Abrasive type cleaners are a big no-no for this because they can contain harsh abrasives and fine cleaning granules that might produce visible scratches. Keep in mind that the purpose of soaking the glass in such a solution is to help loosen those soot particles. As soon as they become loose, they would now be easy enough to remove with a soft-bristled cleaning brush.
